A Sweet Treat!

Happy Monday!

Dallas finally got something remotely close to the illustrious, Museum of Ice Cream‚ÄĒSweet Tooth Hotel. This cute little pop has been a hit since it descended upon Victory Park. For twenty bucks, guests can waltz through the colorful corridors of the quaint space.

The sweet-inspired artwork is curated by some of Texas’ own, like, Jeremy Biggers, Shamsy Roomiani, JoJo Chuang, Rob Wilson, and Chelsea Delzell. My first visit included a swoon-worthy ensemble with stripes, a round mini bag, and two of my close friends; we took turns snapping all the photo opps. D Magazine referenced Sweet Tooth Hotel as an “Instagram Museum,” and boy, that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Teddy and I decided to take advantage of the sweet, artsy decor and bring you guys a visual treat that only TSB could deliver! ūüėČ

Happy Fat Tuesday!

I think I‚Äôve mentioned this before, and pardon me if I have‚ÄĒoutwear is my favorite thing about winter. I like having options for keeping warm when the weather permits. So far, I‚Äôve needed every piece of outerwear (and then some) for this F/W.

I love bombers. I own several with all being different from the next. My newest addition happens to be extremely masculine, associated with a daily mantra one should never forget: you will NEVER LOSE.

Founder and creator, Lemuel Okogbodu is making strides with his custom-made pieces for both men and women. We spoke briefly about NVRLSE, and this is what he had to say:

Never Lose is a brand that aims to encourage the success of the individual. We believe in the narrative of the winner. This does not mean one will never stumble and fall. It is simply a reminder that when it’s all said and done, you will NEVER LOSE.

It’s so inspiring to be connected to individuals who are in tune with the betterment of not only themselves, but of other people!

What daily mantra do you swear by?

Art & Fashion: A Beautiful Union

Happy Sunday!

I fancy myself an art and fashion/style enthusiast. I love art; I love fashion. The two are where my soul lie; a marriage of expression, creativity, and individuality. The best thing about having a platform such as a blog, is having the ability to share my creative mind with the masses. I’ve found great pleasure in allowing my inhibitions to run free through my creativity.

I’d like to think my blog is more than just posting snazzy photos that are pleasing to the eye; it’s so much more than that. It’s about my undying love for aesthetics, forms, shapes, and the like.¬†We are but a few weeks from the end of 2017, and I look forward to sharing more of what ignites my soul in 2018 and beyond.

Special thanks to the amazing team over at Fort Works Art! It was a pleasure shooting in their awesome gallery. If you haven’t visited, it’s worth taking a trip to Cowtown. The space is truly inspirational, and they house work from some of the most notable artists in the nation!Saint Hoax, Sara ZaherWhat ignites your soul?

Set for Summer!

Happy Thursday!

Do you remember those ensemble sets, or for the sake of familiarity, short sets your mother picked out for your daily summer adventures? My fondest memories of summer fashion were those (sometimes ridiculous) short sets. I had a lavender and lime duo that I considered a staple; I chuckle just thinking about it.

Thirty years later, and I STILL love a good set. They’re perfect for both spring and summer; and honestly, less time is spent with finding something to wear. Whether it’s a matching set or mix and match number, you have the luxury to throw on and go.

The sassy, yet quirky set I‚Äôm wearing isn’t a set, but to the untrained eye, it appears to be. 😌

My tips for nailing said look:

  • Don‚Äôt be afraid to experiment with different patterns and/or prints. For example: gingham, polka dots, floral, stripes, etc.
  • Choose your shorts, first.
  • Seek out pieces that can be remixed with existing threads you already own!
  • Have fun with your look!

I want to hear from you! What’s your style protocol for scoring the perfect summer set?

Pink, Stripes & Everything Nice!

Happy Sunday!

I don’t know about you, but spring is undoubtedly the best season of the year. It’s the perfect time to experiment with lighter hues, patterns and prints. I enjoy storing away my dark-colored nail lacquers, and reaching for pink, lavender, mint, etc. Lest we forget the weather is ideal – it’s neither too hot nor cold!

Recently, I talked spring’s most-coveted trends, like, shirting, statement stripes, and shocking pink. Storets has become one of my favorite online clothiers; everything I’m wearing is straight from their site. They’ve got the shirting trend down – the top I’m wearing was an instant buy. I couldn’t leave without snagging the skirt; I love the silver hook in the front – It’s a total nod to those I used to wear in the early 90’s. ūüėČ

What are your thoughts? What trends are you eyeing for spring?

A Nod to Spring!

Happy Sunday!

I’m always researching fashion trends for the coming season. Hence, the reason why I’m wearing polka dot trousers in one photo, and blush cords in another. It’s a habit; in case anyone wants to peruse through the site and find out, it’s all here.

Polka dots, pink hues, and shades of yellow are showing up this spring. If you’ve never been to Dallas, our weather is pretty unpredictable. We’ve already experienced spring-like weather ‚ÄĒ highs in the 80’s last week.

Beehive Boutique in Fort Worth is the chicest. The inside is so picturesque, and the store is oozing with trendy merch for the fashion gal on a budget!

Heres’s a list of trends for¬†Spring 2017:

  • Seaside Stripes
  • Khaki
  • Polka Dots
  • 50 Shades of Yellow
  • Banker Stripes
  • Statement Stripes
  • Single Shoulder Cut-Off
  • Shirting
  • Flashdance Shoulder
  • Sleeve Slits
  • White Shirt Dresses
  • Waist Cinchers
  • The New Trench Coat
  • Robes
  • Shocking Pink
  • Flower Power

Sale Away!

Happy Tuesday!

Post-Christmas sales are Heaven-sent. If there’s any holes in your wardrobe, that’s the perfect time to fill them! Zara and Nordstrom are worth mentioning, because I scored chic pieces without going over budget. I’ve also taken advantage of American Apparel’s Going Out of Business sale. Regular-priced items are 40% off and everything on sale is 70%, um yes. These high-waisted denim pants were a regular $70, but I got them for $21! Not to mention, they make my derri√®re look quite nice.

I had a look in mind involving¬†a crewneck sweatshirt and denim pants, with fishnets underneath. The one I’m wearing was originally $55, but I bought it for $22. It’s a TopShop original, sold at Nordstrom. It has both a feminine and masculine appeal, and it looks good with almost anything, whether it be jeans or a skirt.

Sneaker Crush: Huarache

Happy Monday!

I jumped on the Huarache bandwagon last fall, while visiting a SIX:02 location, here in Dallas. Initially, I was shopping for pieces from Rihanna’s apparel line, Fenty x Puma, but I got distracted. I wandered over to the shoes, and one of the reps encouraged me to try on a pair of Huaraches. My initial¬†thought was,¬†These shoes are difficult to put on. However, that didn’t stop me from wanting them. After¬†stuffing¬†my feet into the 8, I pranced around the store in hopes of finding a way to talk myself out of buying them ‚ÄĒ nope. Needless to say, I went home with the sneakers. Mind you, I’ve never paid over $50 for sneakers, so I guess that’s why I had a case of buyer’s remorse.¬†I returned the sneakers the next day, only to end up snagging an Adidas bomber I spotted before eyeing the Huaraches.

¬†To my surprise, I was gifted a pair for Christmas from the SIX:02 team! It was totally unexpected, and the shoes arrived a few weeks prior. Huaraches are a stylish sneaker; once you get them on, they’re super comfortable. Eventually, I’ll wear these whenever I go running (which will probably be never¬†🙃). My first wear was last week, and I paired them with a top from MissGuided. I like really like the idea of wearing rocker tees with leather bottoms, and completing the look with an edgy sneaker.

Tulle & Bells!

Happy Friday,

I’m slowly, but surely crossing all the items on my fall/winter wishlist. All except for the candy-floss-pink coat from Gucci, priced at $15,000. *SIGH*

Lately, Zara has been my go-to for inexpensive fall finds, and more. I found a pair of flared trousers that are just as chic as the Lisa Says Gah, Flared Trouser. The bell at the bottom is certainly an eye-catcher, and they’re a perfect fit!¬†The top I’m wearing is another favorite purchase of mine via Zara. I was eyeing the tulle top online, but never made a purchase. When I saw it in store, I didn’t past go! Lol
