Weekend Style Recap featuring Forever 21

Happy Memorial Day!

I’ve been dying to photograph in Deep Ellum for the longest, especially since I recently learned of the “Deep Ellum Texas” sign. There’s so many abandoned buildings and loads of construction taking place, but I find so much beauty in the area.

Weekend Style Recap featuring Nectar Sunglasses

Happy Tuesday!

If you asked me what accessory I couldn’t live without, the answer would be sunglasses. Friends of mine give me a hard time, because I have a Tootsies bag in my backseat filled with over a dozen pair. In there, you’ll find everything from cat-eye sunnies to gold tip, tortoise shell aviators.

I recently added a pair to my plethora of sunnies from Nectar Sunglasses, in one of their popular shades, Amethyst. I wore them for the first time while strolling through the Arts District of Downtown Dallas. The sunnies paired well with my black, colorful clouds tee, distressed boyfriend jeans, and chunky platform sandals. They’re extremely lightweight and with me being an occasional klutz, I don’t have to worry about scratching the lens due to the scratch resistance film. The sunnies are quite the conversation piece with the polycarbonate lenses; which I think are über chic and trendy!

Designer Tuesday: Andrea Iyamah: SS ’14 Swimwear Collection

Happy Tuesday!

The good people over at Andrea Iyamah sent me images of their SS ’14 Swimwear Collection. Last year’s collection was fitting for the hot summer sun; including cutout bikinis, mesh one-pieces, bright colors, and other flirty pieces. The SS ’14 collection is available for purchase via their website. I can’t wait to post pictures of myself frolicking in their swimwear, in all my glory!

Would you wear any of the swimwear from Andrea Iyamah’s SS’14 Collection?

Good morning All!

The fringe handbags pictured above are absolutely gorgeous. I must admit, I was a bit annoyed when creating the board. Why? Well, one thing about me that a great deal of people don’t know, is that I’ll wear something once and discard of it.

Wait….Allow me to clarify that, because I know some of you will probably read that with eyes wide open. (Lol) I have the tendency to get over clothing, shoes, and the like, before they’re considered dated. I’ll randomly wake up and say, “This must go.” Something like a liquidation sale, except I’m not selling anything!

Furthermore, I purchased a turquoise shoulder bag from Target last year that I was really excited about. I carried it a few times and ended up getting rid of it, along with some other items. I thought, “There’s no way fringe bags will make a comeback.” WRONG! The other day, I was thumbing through one of my favorite fashion publications and noticed an entire article on fringe handbags. I was sick, livid, all the above! This is clearly a lesson to me: Hold on a little longer! Also, festival season is upon us and what better way to house all of your essentials?!
P.S. I’ve provided a few photos for your viewing pleasure. By then, you’ll know why I made such a fuss!

Happy Saturday!

This is the first time that I’ve done a post on Saturday, but I had to share with you my Christmas wish list. Let’s explore…
  1. I experimented with a soft purple earlier this year and really loved the way it looked against my lips. I wouldn’t mind having it stashed away in my makeup bag.
  2. I’ve always been a fan of a good, quality gold watch. I’ve lusted over the Rolex 18K 26mm gold watch for quite some time.
  3. These boots are anything short of gorgeous! Oh, how I would love to have these apart of my shoe collection, to pair with trousers, a mixed media skirt, and skater dress.
  4. I feel like this year was the revival of the Moschino belt, seeing the models strut down the runway with their belts, only made me want one.
  5. The irony of me longing for a bucket bag, when there was a time that you couldn’t even pay me to carry one. Not anymore, I’m making it a point to have this apart of my bag collection.
  6. No shade, but since I can’t afford a classic, black quilted Chanel bag, Rebecca Minkoff’s will do!
  7. MCM (Mode Creation Munich) is a classic brand. Even getting my hands on one of their vintage shoulder bags would suffice.
  8. Out of all the bracelets I own, still no gold cuff. I fell in love with gold cuffs while scrolling my Instagram feed, and stumbled upon one from Jennifer Fisher.
  9. I did a post on full skater skirts earlier this year, and have yet to purchase one.
  10. A black faux fur coat is something that I MUST have! I think they look so cute paired with an after five dress. I plan on wearing one for NYE.
  11. I’d like to think that I’m a mascara enthusiast. I love trying different types of mascara, no matter the price. I learned of the Better Than Sex Mascara from a friend that is a Beauty Expert at Sephora. She guaranteed me that the mascara lives up to its name! 😉
  12. Viktor & Rolf’s Flower Bomb smells amazing. I received a sample and I was sold instantly. I can’t wait to add it to my plethora of perfumes!

Now that we’ve explored my Christmas wish list, what’s on yours?

Happy Friday!

In case you were unaware, winter officially begins on December 21st. With that being said, I’ve conjured up a list of winter musthaves to add to your wardrobe. Some of the items listed above, are intended to give you an idea, in case you don’t have the disposable income to purchase the exact item.

Furthermore, I’m actually quite excited for winter this year, seeing that I’m not fond of cold weather whatsoever. However, that is not the case this year with all the stylish apparel and accessories I’ve spotted. Besides, when colder temperatures roll around, you can experiment with layering to keep warm and still look stylish. Accessories such as beanies, parkas, and scarves are like icing on the cake!

Which items will you purchase from the Winter ’13 musthaves list?

  1. Bucket Bag
  2. Army Parka
  3. Fur Scarf (real or faux)
  4. Moto boots
  5. Zodiac jewelry
  6. Snakeskin

Chanel to present Metiers d’Art show in Dallas

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, I’ll have you to know that a little birdie informed me of Chanel coming to Dallas. How could I have missed this?! Do you know what this means?! Don’t answer that…

Moreover, Chanel designer Karl Langerfeld is bringing his Metiers d’Art show to Fair Park on December 10, 2013. In addition, he’ll also premiere his film about the couture house’s creator, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. The Return, written and directed by Langerfeld, features Geraldine Chaplin and Rupert Everett. The film highlights the reopening of the founder’s couture house in 1954.

The Return will be revealed in Dallas, Texas on December 10th at 6:30pm local time and simultaneously on www.chanel.com

I don’t know about you, but this is exciting news for all of us that are apart of the Dallas fashionsphere. What are your thoughts on Chanel coming to Dallas?

Designer Tuesday: Misile

Happy Tuesday!

I love female designers who incorporate a bit of a menswear touch to their women’s apparel. I can appreciate a masculine plaid in the form of a fitted dress or even a full skirt. My sentiments on this, makes me ponder on Misile.

Misile is an independent label proudly designed in Brooklyn, New York and manufactured in New York City’s garment district. Creative Director, Rhonda Puccini uses her former menswear design experience to create the contrast of soft femininity with a masculine edge, which makes Misile stand out as a true Brooklyn label. Puccini strives to keep manufacturing in the U.S., specifically NYC. “I still personally go into the factories and supply stores myself and it never gets old. At this point it feels like you’re a family member of the district. Economically speaking, I understand why companies manufacture overseas, but I prefer to keep Misile a true NY label.”

As I mentioned earlier, I love a designer that incorporates a bit of masculinity to their women’s apparel to create pieces that are unique and aesthetically appealing. As Puccini states, “I love playing with both feminine and masculine looks, or soft silks with distressed denim accents. Most of my styles transform drastically depending on simple styling, for instance, combat boots vs. heels. The press referred to our A/W 13 collection as ‘Glam Grunge’ which I thought was quite accurate.”

According to Puccini, Misile has also signed on to design a small Holiday capsule collection with Free People. “Free People has been a huge supporter of our brand and are a great company to team up with. Come November, the exclusive ‘Misile for Free People’ styles for Holiday will be available online and in Free People stores across the US.”

Misile has my vote and I’m certain the brand is on its way to becoming a household name!

Happy Wednesday!

Recently, I’ve been trying to tackle all of my September issues from my favorite fashion publications and I’ve got fall/winter’s musthave trends. Surprisingly, I’m not as ready for the coming seasons as I have been in the past. I’m still wanting to wear printed onesies and crop tops (of course, without the presence of a jacket or cardigan.) LOL

However, I’m prepared for the cooler temps and ready to experiment with the season’s hottest trends. As always, I’ve taken my notes to Polyvore and created a trend board for you to use as a shopping guide.

  1. Fall florals I love floral and the fact that I can still wear the print during the cooler seasons is a plus. Dresses, buttoned tops, and full skirts are my musthaves for wearing fall florals for the coming season.
  2. White is still right for the fall/winter season. Go for an head-to-toe white look or opt for the classic black and white look.
  3. Fair Isle Pullovers have made a comeback and can be paired with a pair of skinnies and flats or pointed heels.
  4. Tartan Accessories Add a tartan scarf to your favorite pea coat for a classic and polished look.
  5. Word Jewelry is so dainty and can easily add a chic touch to any ensemble. Word necklaces and rings are especially my favorite.
  6. Chain Strap Minis are so cute and I believe that they’ll never go out of style. Pair one with a patterned mini skirt for a classic, effortless look.
  7. Full Skirts are my favorite and look great with a silk, printed blouse. Opt for a real or faux leather full skirt and pair with a denim buttoned shirt and pointed heels.
  8. Fur will never go out of style. If you are unable to afford real fur, you can always choose a good quality faux fur. I purchased a faux fur vest last year and I’ll definitely be wearing it again this year.
  9. Bad Girl Plaid is bad ass yet so classic. This 90’s trend is one of my favorites. I could see myself pairing a black and red plaid mini skirt with a white buttoned short, underneath a black sweater. I’ll then finish the look with thigh high tights and black oxford heels.

What fall/winter ’13 trends will you try?
