Hello, fall!

Happy Monday!

Fall is here. *Inserts excitement*

Summer came for a day, packed it’s bags, and left. Fortunately, it left its temps behind. If you know Texas’ weather, you know we won’t experience the cooler temps until mid November. I find that to be a good thing, because you can still get away with wearing certain pieces that are deemed for summer only. Since mid-August, I’ve purchased pieces here and there from my Fall musthaves list (I’ll share with you all later on this month). Nonetheless, one of the items on the list is a fringe skirt. During one of my pinning sessions via Pinterest, I spotted inspiration with exactly what I had in mind. Having said that, I’ve joined forces with Tobi to bring you inspiration that you too can recreate  for fall/winter, without breaking the bank!

What piece(s) are you coveting for fall/winter 16?

Happy Tuesday!

It really is a happy Tuesday, because it’s TACO TUESDAY!

Let’s talk rompers. I believe rompers are a summer staple. Like jumpsuits, they’re easy to style. With temps being synonymous with fish grease, I really don’t want to take up too much time trying to find something to wear. It’s just too hot!

Not only was it boiling hot on Saturday, it was humid. I swear, the humidity we experienced this past weekend was greater than the humidity you experience in Houston.

Luckily, I didn’t suffer too much, all thanks to light dressing of the Just Like Me Cut-Out Romper. If you glance from afar, it appears that I’m wearing an extremely short dress, but if you look closer, you’ll notice that the shorts are wide-leg. The sweetheart neckline, and the front cut-out is what sold me! To wing myself off wearing darker colors, I opted for gray. 😊

Happy Monday! (You’re probably saying, “Yeah right.” Haha)

I believe jumpsuits are a gift from God. They’re easy in terms of styling, and they lessen the headache of trying to find something to wear in the crunch. I’m drawn to wide-leg, solid colors and printed versions. I also like jumpsuits that allows me to reveal a little back. *Wink*

http://www.estherhphoto.comhttp://www.estherhphoto.comhttp://www.estherhphoto.comhttp://www.estherhphoto.comTwo thumbs up for Tobi and the groovy, 70’s inspired denim jumpsuit. It’s one stylish piece in its own right, with a sassy side zipper closure and adjustable straps. What I like most about this jumpsuit, is its versatility — it can be worn all year long!

  • Spring: Opt for a cute, graphic tee or high-neck crop top.
  • Summer: Wear the jumpsuit alone (like I did), or pair it with an off the shoulder top.
  • Fall: Keep the 70’s alive, by pairing your jumpsuit with a bell sleeves top and choker.
  • Winter: Keep warm by pairing a turtleneck and/or flannel. Add your favorite outerwear to complete the look.

Whatever you decide, the possibilities are endless!

P.S. New customers get 50% off their first order. Add some Tobi newness to your summer wardrobe!

What are you thoughts on my look?

Happy Thursday!

There’s no coincidence with this post and the previous one. I found this dress at Buffalo Exchange almost two years ago, and it’s one of my favorite pieces. The bold, nautical print and pleats are what sold me. The shirt dress is quite the conversation piece — minimal with a subtle, fun detail. Initially, I wanted to pair Stans with this number, but I think my ole faithful gold heels did this ensemble justice. Get a look-see👇🏾.

The Shirt Dress

Hey there!

Expect to see me in a shirt dress from now, until it gets cold again. I’m obsessed with the many variations, but I like the menswear-inspired versions. They look great with almost any shoe. I like to pair them with sneakers, chunky heels, lug soles and/or flat sandals. The one I’m wearing below has a masculine touch up top and a flirty, feminine look at the bottom. It definitely gives off a private school girl vibe.

Happy Monday,

I like leather pants. The ones I’m wearing happen to be the only pair I own. The longline top paired with the leather pants are a perfect combination. The peek-a-boo slit is my favorite feature. I randomly thought about it when I was shopping browsing online. I found the top and thought, “I could wear this with a pair of leather pants.” Ironically, I found a similar getup via NastyGal. Might I add that I’m not the biggest fan of silver jewelry but the silver rings, and bracelets definitely complement the all black look.

Fur Real

Happy Saturday!

I love a good faux fur. Let’s face it, my disposable income won’t allow me to buy the real deal (one day). Nowadays, you can snag a decent-looking faux fur for under $200. Sure, you might fork over more, but I’ll bet money that the quality is exceptional. Make a note that known retailers like NastyGal, MissGuidedTopShop and Asos have an amazing selection of faux furs.

The one I’m wearing below is from MissGuided. Not so fast, unfortunately, it’s sold out! However, you can click the aforementioned links for an identical version. The coat is amazing and worth the money. The warm inner lining serves its purpose with the below-freezing temperatures we’ve experienced in the last couple weeks. The dress I’m wearing underneath was definitely overshadowed by the furry goodness. http://www.estherhphoto.comhttp://www.estherhphoto.comhttp://www.estherhphoto.comhttp://www.estherhphoto.comhttp://www.estherhphoto.comTell me about your faux fur coat experience!

A 70’s Affair

Happy Thursday!

*Cues Shaft theme music*

I’m excited to share this post with you all, not only because it’s been awhile, but because I’m literally grooving in an all black 70’s-inspired look. I had a blast shooting this and the location was ideal for what I envisioned. I had the ringlets, gold hoops (haven’t worn a pair since God knows when) and it’s my first post of the summer!

For those of you that don’t know, I fancy myself an old soul; I’m even guilty of using slang terms from the 70’s. (LOL) I’ve often pondered, “Is it possible to be obsessed with an era you didn’t live in?!”

What are your thoughts on my 70’s-inspired look? What era are you obsessed with?

Happy Friday!

I’m really excited about today’s post because I’m wearing shorts! If you live in DFW, you can share in my excitement due to the bizarre winter we’ve encountered. Of course, it could’ve been worse, but since we live in the south, it was a bit overwhelming. Nonetheless, I broke out my shorts for what felt like 90 degrees with the exact temperature of 84!

I love the way high waisted shorts complement high heels. My retro-inspired look could only be achieved with the Harleen platform sandals. In previous posts, I’ve mentioned certain heels not being for the faint of heart; and these definitely can be added to the list. However, they’re so chic and I feel sexy when I wear them, and tall. Although the platform is relatively high, they’re flattering. I’m already conjuring up my next ensemble with these in mind. Perhaps a pair of denim culottes and/or skinnies. Oh, and get a look at the legs! 😉

The Style Barn Turns 3!

Happy Saturday!

I can hardly believe that it’s been three years since I established my blog. It was no easy feat, but here we are!

Last year, I didn’t celebrate, but this year is about reflection. The journey I’ve embarked on as a Fashion/Style Blogger has been both difficult and rewarding. It’s a humbling experience – I would’ve never imagined having the opportunities afforded to me through hard work and perseverance. My mentor, Kimberly O’Neil has been such an amazing supporter since the day we became acquainted. She is the force that really pushed me to establish my blog.

Originally, TSB was a platform that I used to shed light on like-minded individuals. Features, trend reports, and product highlights were a large part of the blog. Building a rapport with individuals not only from DFW, has been imperative to the livelihood of my brand. Luckily, I’ve been fortunate to do just that! I’ve transitioned into offering my readers a glimpse of who I am, in terms of style.

Lastly, I appreciate all of you who lend your time to read my posts in their entirety, offering a kind word in the comment section below, and being a force behind my determination to progress.

Thank you! Xx

P.S. Those cupcakes were really good!
